By 11am on Sunday, 18th May, Israel had killed 125 Palestinians since dawn. The indiscriminate bombing campaign struck every part of Gaza as people slept, following a week of continuous attacks that killed at least 464 people.
In al-Mawasi — a so-called “safe zone” — Israel bombed another displacement camp, killing 36 people. This horror, while increasing in intensity over the last week, has been taking place for 19 months.
Israel’s security cabinet approved the ethnic cleansing of Gaza earlier in May, signing off on a plan to confine the entire population to a small section of land in the south, and allow just enough food to enter so Palestinians don’t starve to death outright.
The plan is already underway, with 300,000 people forcibly displaced from northern Gaza, amidst one of the most ferocious bombing campaigns to date. In just 12 hours on Friday, 115 Palestinians were killed in northern Gaza. Every single public hospital in northern Gaza has now been destroyed or shut down.
Since March 2nd, Israel has completely blocked the entry of all food, water, and medical supplies. This blockade is not just neglect — it is deliberately engineered to ensure wounded Palestinians die from their injuries, or starve to death. These are not humanitarian “aid items” — they are basic necessities to sustain life. Lack of food and water also renders the human body more susceptible to disease, and prevents the body from healing from injuries.
Forced displacement is ethnic cleansing. Blocking food, water and medical supplies is genocide. Bombing Hospitals and Displacement Camps are war crimes.
