Israel has now blocked all food, clean water, medical equipment, sanitation supplies, and shelter materials from entering Gaza for eight consecutive weeks. Gaza—a tiny strip under complete blockade from land, air, and sea—remains totallycut off from the outside world. Two million people are trapped, isolated, and starving.

On 25 April, the UN World Food Programme announced it had exhausted all remaining stocks in Gaza. This is now the longest total blockade Gaza has ever endured. Markets have collapsed. Food systems have crumbled. 

For those already facing malnutrition, the situation is even more catastrophic: 21 malnutrition clinics have now been forced to close due to Israel’s systematic destruction of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure.

Just behind Gaza’s closed gates, more than 116,000 metric tonnes of food aid—enough to feed one million people for four months—sits rotting in the sun. Israel is choosing to starve two million people to death, even while life-saving aid sits just metres away.

Israel has already killed at least 18,000 children in Gaza—burned, bombed, and buried beneath rubble. Now, it is attempting to starve the rest. By blocking access to the basic necessities that sustain life, Israel is knowingly enacting a policy that will lead to the mass death of over one million children.

There is no justification for this. The only purpose of denying food and water to an entire civilian population is to starve them into submission. And if they do not bend to Israel’s will—it ensures only death.

Blocking food and water is not just a war crime. It is a human rights violation. It is genocide. As your constituent, I am calling on you to take immediate action:

• Impose a two-way arms and trade embargo on Israel
• End all diplomatic relations with the apartheid regime
• Recognise the State of Palestine immediately
• Demand international investigations and accountability for war crimes

There is no excuse for inaction. We must stop enabling genocide.
