In the early hours of 23 April 2025, Israel violated international law once again—by bombing both a children’s hospital and Jaffa School, where families were sleeping with nowhere else to go. The strike on the school killed 10 people and left many others wounded. Meanwhile, the bombing of the children’s hospital severely damaged the intensive care unit, as well as the solar panel system that powers lifesaving equipment. This has made it nearly impossible for the hospital to treat children in critical condition.

Israel’s war on health infrastructure doesn’t end there. Over 1,000 medical workers have been killed since October 2023. For over eight weeks, all medical supplies have been blocked from entering Gaza, leading to widespread, preventable deaths. 

All of this, just one day after Israel targeted the heavy equipment used by Gaza’s civil defence teams to rescue people trapped under rubble. 

Israel’s targeted strikes on schools destroy emergency sheltering facilities for families and prevent the essential education of the children of Gaza in the long term. 88.5% of schools in Gaza require complete reconstruction or extensive rehabilitation.

Israel’s intention of decimating any potential future for Palestinians in Gaza is clear. These genocidal acts serve the purpose of rendering Gaza uninhabitable and unsurvivable.

The evidence is overwhelming and continues to grow. As your constituent, I am calling on you to take immediate action:

• Impose a two-way arms and trade embargo on Israel
• End all diplomatic relations with the apartheid regime
• Recognise the State of Palestine immediately
• Demand international investigations and accountability for war crimes

These steps are not radical—they are necessary. If we believe in human rights, in international law, and in justice, we cannot turn away.

There is no excuse for inaction. We must stop enabling genocide.
