Dear [Elected Official’s Name],
I am writing to express my deep concern about human rights violations committed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank against Palestinian civilians. A Palestinian woman has suffered a miscarriage following a violent raid by Israeli soldiers in Hebron. Both she and her husband were physically assaulted during the home invasion by the military. Despite being rushed to hospital, the woman tragically lost her child due to the trauma inflicted during the attack.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of brutality and aggression that has escalated dramatically since the ICJ issued its opinion on July 19, 2024, declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land illegal. Despite the ICJ’s call for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, Israel has responded with increased violence, launching a full-scale military invasion of the West Bank and continuing its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.
At least 704 Palestinians, including 159 children, have been murdered in the West Bank since October, and over 5,700 others injured by Israeli forces and settlers. In Gaza, Over 16,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel.
Violent raids and arrests continue across the West Bank. Israel has no legal jurisdiction over the West Bank, so these arrests- including frequent detentions of children are effectively kidnappings and contribute to the increasing number of Palestinian hostages held by Israel.
We must sanction Israel for its crimes. A full arms embargo and a two-way trade embargo must be enforced until Israel ceases its illegal occupation, blockade and other human rights violations; this will also add pressure for a ceasefire. Recognising the State of Palestine and supporting the prosecution of war crimes is essential.
I look forward to your commitment to upholding international law through these actions.
